Glass Fusion Course
An introductory course in Glass Fusion (Theory and Practical) will be held at the Società Dante Alighieri in collaboration with the Museo del Vetro di Piegaro, Perugia (Italy), and Andolfi Glass Ideas.
The course will start on May 2011.
The earliest man-made glass objects date back to around 3500 BC, with finds in Egypt and Mesopotamia.
The first glass making manual dates back to around 650 BC, contained in tablets from the library of the Assyrian King Ashunbanipal. The Romans, through their conquests spread the glass making technology across Western Europe and the Mediterranean.
Today the glass industry has developed in a variety of techniques, assisted by traditional processes and modern technological support. One of these methods is called Glass Fusion, a relatively simple process, yet specialised in its creative and production techniques.
