The CHILDREN’S EYES ON EARTH exhibition will be inaugurated on Monday 17th February 2014 by H.E. the President Dr George Abela at the Presidential Palace, Valletta. It features 85 large scale photographs, taken by children, chosen from 4000 submissions hailing from 91 countries from the 5 continents.
This event is intended to raise awareness about important environmental issues as seen through the eyes of children. All the photographs share the same themes; protecting the environment, preventing the causes of pollution; and to spread knowledge concerning some of the challenges facing our planet.

It was organised by National Geographic photographer, poet and humanitarian Reza Deghati. The international jury includes renowned celebrities from National Geographic, Reuters, Associated Press, Fox International and the main Nature and Photographic magazines. The event has been sponsored by IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) and presided by Leyla Aliyeva, the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in collaboration with the President of Malta H.E Dr George Abela and the Ministry of Education. On the morrow, the 18th February, Reza Deghati will give an interactive lecture to local photographers and others involved in the educational field of creative innovation. Reza will delve on the experiences with the diverse Cultures and the secret of his success in his photography.

Reza will also deliver a briefing on his work and projects to promote education through photography. Lecture will be held at the Palace Valletta Dining Room and starts at 7.00pm. The briefing is open to the general public and no booking is required. Exhibition will be open for public viewing from 18th February 2014 to 28th February 2014.
Reza Deghati’s name is synonymous with the National Geographic Magazine since many of his works have graced its covers. His works have been exhibited in most of the major institutions world-wide. He is the author of seventeen books including the best seller War + Peace.

Leyla Aliyeva is Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and daughter of its Chairperson, Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady of Azerbaijan. The Foundation carries out a mixture of cultural, political and charitable projects. Ms Aliyeva is an established artist and writer about green issues.
